PoP does some Monkeyin’ around with Monkeyrotica

To keep with the monkey theme I need to mention the fabulous post that Prince of Petworth has posted about blogger commenter extraordinaire  Monkeyrotica. Read the comments for a good chuckle, and viewing of the Monkey behind the curtain. How only if they made  a talking Monkeyrotica action figure I would know what to give everyone for christmas next year.

So Long Crapberry Pearl, its IPhone time

So i have had my IPhone 3G for about a week now, and what can I say. I love it. Sooo much better than my crapberry pearl, that was falling apart. so glad to  be rid of it.

But enough about the crapberry hatin, let’s talk about the IPhone loving.

First off I wait in line at the Clarendon Apple store. I got there about an hour and half before they where about to open. Already had a bit of line, damn. Any way decided to wait it out. n previous weekends I had no luck getting an IPhone even waiting in line till 11pm when they closed on the first day.  Sure i was wearing my bad idea jeans that day, still it was brutal.

The Apple store employees were truly on the their A-game that day. Bringing out water, using a new ticketing system they started they day before, and pre-qualify ATT customers like myself. However ATT really made the expreience a huge pain. seems like I had a month to go before i was eligible for an upgrade, and rather than do anything for customer that has been  with them for about 9 years, they decided to insult me. One guy told me “Thy couldn’t do anything about the price since everybody wants them, and they are trying to get new customers” Great job dude bascilly tell existing loyal customers that you dont give a $#@$! about them. So i decide to pay the extra amount any way. I also ask about the two year contract which another ATT employee told me I had to get even with the $499 price tag. WTF so i get it at both ends . Thanks ATT for literaly screwing a loyal customer, I so like you better as cingular.

Besides my ATT snafu , the rest of the process went great. I had two Apple store employees that rocked, and I was apple to take my new 16gb black IPhone home.

As for the IPhone itself, I really mclovin it.  The apps are nice, Pandora, Last.fm, Wordpress, and Twinkle are awesome. I really love streaming music over my cell phone, who really cares about the XM/Sirus merger, streaming music over your IPhone and having that in your car is such a killer features. Satilite radio has another nail in its coffin. There really needs to more apps including radio apps, I think having a very easy way to listen to podcasts/radio without syncing to your mac will be key.

Some of the other great things about the IPhone is its GPS features and all the apps that take advantage of it. This really seems to be the killer feature, you can get real localization off the Iphone. It is pretty sweet. I can’t wait for other apps to take this feature to new levels.

The email features for the IPhone are also pretty sweet, I even have my work exchange email hooked up in there. Even though it’s very usefull to have my work exchange email going to my IPhone, It does feel a little dirty.

Now for a couple of things I dont like about the IPhone.

First off is the battery life is pretty horrendous, from what I here using apps and gps really do a number on it. They need to work on the batterylife somehow, this is going to be a constant battle of using the IPhone vs draining its battery.

I really don’t like the lack of copy and paste on the iphone, even the blackberry had something for it, i would nice for apple to add this basic feature.

A third issue is when writing email you can’t turn your IPhone sideways and get a long keyboard like you can with Safari. That is a little annoying. Would be nice if at least apples main applications could do this.

One other thing that I would love is real terminal, or at least a fake one to ssh into other boxes. I know I can “jailbreak” my IPhone to get one, but I would rather have an offical supported one that would not void my warranty . Please apple give us an offical terminal, we will behave please.

Overall I am very happy with purchase and so far have enjoyed it.

Test post from my iphone

Test post using the iPhone wordpress plugin. Now this is cool.

AdultSwim Pumpers Like To Pump

Saw this clip below on the AdultSwim’s “Tim and Eric Awesome Show Great Job!” last Sunday. This made me laugh with its awesomeness. It means there may still be hope for tv.

Cool House in Brookland

I always drive by this one house in my neighborhood of Brookland, in NE Washington DC.  It may be a music  studio or house with just band mates, but it looks pretty right on. Usually I don’t tend to like new fangled houses in the neighborhood, since Brookland has a lot of early 20th century architecture including a lot of Victorians. Plus the DC area is know for knocking down cool old houses for new ugly McMansions ( Arlington and Cabin John I am talking about you. )

However I don’t mind this house, the architecture is tasteful and cool.  It does seem to be a bit out place but does add some nice variety to the Neighborhood.

Hopefully will the all the new development that they are planning in the area, the developers will take pointers  from these guys and build something that works for the neighborhood.

Another blogger in the neighbor have a nice write up on it as well.
